Game Modes Explained

First-Come First-Served Mode

How Players Join

  1. 1
Players click your game link and see all current players listed by name - complete transparency
  2. 2
If spots are available, players instantly join and get text confirmation with their player number
  3. 3
When full, new players go to waitlist with position shown (e.g., "You are #3 on the waitlist")
  4. 4
Cancellations automatically promote the next person with instant text notification

Waitlist Mode (Application-Based)

How Players Join

  1. 1
Players click your link but cannot see who else applied - completely private process
  2. 2
Everyone goes to your private waitlist (even if spots available) - no automatic confirmation
  3. 3
You manually review all applications and strategically select players
  4. 4
Selected players get promoted with one click - you control timing and selection

Basic Game Setup (Both Modes)

Fill Out Game Details

  1. 1
Where: Pick a court from the dropdown — it remembers everywhere your group has played. Choose "Somewhere new..." to type a court that isn't listed yet, and it'll be in the list next time.
  2. 2
When: Date, start time and duration (defaults to 90 minutes). This goes in every text your players get, plus their reminder the day before.
  3. 3
Who: Your name and phone number, whether you're playing, how many additional players you need, and an optional message. Your phone number is the key to everything — it's how you get your management link back on any device.
  4. 4
How: First-come or waitlist mode, and which text alerts you want while the game fills up.

Managing Your Game

What You Can Do With Your Management Link:

Player Control: Promote from waitlist, move to waitlist, remove players entirely
Communication: Send announcements, weather updates, location changes
Game Updates: Edit time, location, court details, player count
Real-Time Monitoring: See who's confirmed, waitlisted, and recent activity

Finding Your Management Link

Method 1: "My Games" Page (Recommended)

Works on any device, because it looks up your games by phone number:

  1. 1
Click "My Games" in the navigation menu
  2. 2
Enter the phone number you host with. You only do this once per device — it's remembered after that.
  3. 3
Find your game in the list and click "Manage". Past games are there too, tucked under "Past games".

Method 2: Text Message

If you'd rather not type your number, or you want the link straight in your messages:

  1. 1
Text +1 (970) 610-1003 with "1" OR reply "1" to any text you received about your game
  2. 2
Get Instant Link: You'll immediately receive your management URL via text message

Method 3: Contact Support

If None Of The Above Work:

What To Include When Contacting Support:

Your Phone Number: The one you used when creating the game
Game Details: Date, time, location name

Email support@inorout.club and we will help you get back into your game.

Adding Photos

A record of the game, on the same link everyone already has

How It Works

  • Where To Add Them: Open your management link and scroll to the bottom of the Game Details tab
  • From Your Phone: "Choose a photo" offers your camera or your camera roll
  • Captions: Optional, and shown under the photo
  • Who Can See Them: Anyone with the game link — the same link your players already used to say IN or OUT
  • Removing One: Tap Remove under the thumbnail
  • Limit: 12 photos per game

Good To Know

Only you can add or remove. Photos are posted with your management link, so players can look but not upload.
They're shrunk automatically. A full-size phone photo is resized before it's sent, so it won't eat your data.
My Games shows the count. Games with photos say so on their card.

FAQs

Game Setup And Creation

Which Organizer Notifications Should I Choose?

Recommended For Beginners:
  • Game Becomes Full: Always helpful to know you're set
  • Someone Cancels: Critical for finding last-minute replacements
Optional Notifications:
  • Someone Joins: Only if you like frequent updates (can be a lot of texts)
  • One Spot Left: Skip this if you already get "Someone joins"
  • Waitlist Starts: Useful if you want to know when overflow begins

Can I Edit Game Details After Creating?

Yes! You Can Edit Most Game Details Anytime:
  • Location
  • Date and time
  • Duration
  • Number of additional players needed
  • Optional message
  • Your notification preferences
Cannot Be Changed: Registration mode (First-Come First-Served vs Waitlist)

Game Management

Can I Add Players Manually?

Yes! Use the "Add Player Manually" section in your management interface. This is perfect for:
  • Friends who don't use smartphones
  • Players who prefer not to use the online system
  • Last-minute additions you want to include
You can add them directly to confirmed spots or to the waitlist, with or without phone numbers.

What Happens When I Remove A Player?

If You Remove A Confirmed Player:
  1. They get a text saying they've been removed from the game
  2. If there's a waitlist, the first person automatically gets promoted
  3. The promoted person gets a text saying they're now confirmed
If You Remove A Waitlisted Player: They just get notified of removal and everyone else moves up one position.

Troubleshooting

Players Aren't Getting Text Messages - What's Wrong?

Check These Common Issues:
  • Phone Number Format: Make sure numbers include area codes (555) 123-4567
  • International Numbers: May not be supported depending on your location
  • Carrier Blocking: Some carriers block automated messages - ask players to check spam
  • STOP Commands: If a player previously replied "STOP", they won't get messages
Solution: Have players text "START" to re-enable texts if they previously opted out.
